The reimagined Mirihi Island Resort reopens as an intimate, design-led retreat.
MGallery Collection has added a serene new address to its global portfolio: V Villas Maldives at Mirihi – MGallery Collection, an all-villa retreat built around the idea of understated, slow-paced luxury. The resort welcomed its first guests earlier this month, following a sweeping renovation and expansion of the property previously known as Mirihi Island Resort.
It occupies the private island of Mirihi in the South Ari Atoll, one of the most unspoiled corners of the Maldives, where powder-white sand meets clear blue-green lagoons. Reaching it takes a 30-minute seaplane hop from Malé, just long enough for the pace of ordinary life to fall away and a deep sense of calm to settle in.
The resort’s 42 villas are scattered across the lagoon and along the island’s bright sand, and they now include four new overwater villas with generous private pools. Each one frames an uninterrupted ocean view and comes with dedicated butler service, so privacy and quiet are never in short supply. The architecture is designed to recede into its surroundings, with neutral palettes, local pinewood, soft linens and warm timber that glows in the sun all working to keep the focus on the sea and sky.
The flagship accommodation, the Mirihi Maa, is built for togetherness, offering expansive indoor-outdoor living, a private pool and direct lagoon access. It makes an easy choice for families or groups hoping to reconnect.
Design runs through the property as a signature feature rather than an afterthought. At its heart stands a sculptural centrepiece, the Coral Ceramic Wall, glazed in shades of reef blue to honour the island’s artisanal heritage and coastal roots. Nearby, the Akoya Sea Lounge keeps to a soft, neutral scheme crowned by a striking rope chandelier that hovers gently overhead, echoing the calm mood of the island.
Wellness is anchored by the Mirihi Spa, where treatments draw on island botanicals and pair traditional Maldivian knowledge with modern technique. Guests can book an ocean-mineral salt scrub, an intuitive body massage or an infrared sea-bath ritual meant to restore balance from within. Sound-healing ceremonies, guided meditation and aerial yoga over the water round out the offering, while the signature treatment, a full-body massage using warm seashells, is themed around the island’s five elements.
Every MGallery property is built around an “M Moment,” a defining experience meant to go beyond ordinary luxury. Here, that moment unfolds aboard the Mirihi Thari, a yacht chartered exclusively for resort guests. The full-day cruise across the Ari Atoll ventures into some of the most spectacular waters in the Maldives, where guests may spot whale sharks, manta rays and sea turtles in the wild. Between snorkels and dives, there are shaded decks, cold drinks and chef-prepared canapés to enjoy.
