Andrew Zimmern Is Hosting a Culinary Safari Through South Africa

Andrew Zimmern safari tour

One of the most respected voices in food and travel will lead an intimate journey from Cape Town to the Greater Kruger.

Chef, writer and cultural explorer Andrew Zimmern is teaming up with Ker & Downey Africa to host “The African Table,” a luxury culinary safari through South Africa designed for travellers who want their plate and their itinerary to be equally memorable.

The trip weaves together standout food and wine with privately arranged safari experiences, moving through Cape Town, the Cape Winelands and the Greater Kruger. The result blends polished hospitality with genuine cultural connection at every stop. Each component has been curated privately by Ker & Downey Africa in partnership with Zimmern and the Heidi Ladell Collective.

Zimmern, long known for using cuisine as a way into a place’s culture, brings a perspective that dovetails neatly with Ker & Downey Africa’s own philosophy: thoughtful, highly personalized and firmly grounded in a sense of place.

On the ground, the itinerary leans into hands-on, access-driven moments, including exclusive tastings across the Cape Winelands, private dinners, chef-led culinary encounters and coastal foraging, alongside meals at some of the most celebrated restaurants in South Africa.

The safari side delivers in the Greater Kruger, with “Big Five” game drives, bush dinners under the stars and time spent in some of the country’s most extraordinary wilderness.

Conceived as an intimate hosted departure, The African Table is aimed at travellers who prize access, discretion and experiences that feel both refined and authentically personal.
