Luxury Ski Stays to Plan Your Upcoming Winter Trip Around

From a reimagined Jasper Park Lodge and a new Whistler lift to December openings in Courchevel, Cortina and Verbier, these are the mountain stays with something new this season.

The ski calendar is filling up, and this winter several of the world’s best-known mountain stays are arriving with something to show for it. Here are seven luxury ski stays across Canada, the Alps and Japan that are new, newly reimagined or newly upgraded for 2026/27.

Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, Jasper, Alberta

Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge relaunched in June 2026 after a property-wide transformation led by owner Oxford Properties with Accor and design firm HBA. More than 330 of its 397 guest rooms, suites and Signature Cabins have been renewed and redesigned.

The lodge now has three new dining rooms: Lume, Elderwood and The Barbicon, a mountain steakhouse built around the Main Lodge’s original Tyndall stone fireplace. Wellness centres on the Glacial Plunge & Sauna Journey on the shores of Lac Beauvert, and guided stargazing is part of the programming. Plan the rest of the trip with Tourism Jasper.

Rimrock Banff, Emblems Collection, Banff, Alberta

Rimrock Banff is now open as the first North American hotel in Accor’s Emblems Collection, following a full reimagining of the cliffside property high above the town of Banff. It has 320 guest rooms, 57 of them suites.

The 9,600-square-foot Bathhouse is billed as Banff’s first luxury hydrothermal wellness experience, with infinity and hot pools, saunas, a steam room and glacial cold plunges. Dining spans four venues, including signature restaurant Parker’s Table, and an Expeditions Centre offers more than 50 seasonal activities. For lift days, SkiBig3 covers the Banff and Lake Louise ski areas, and Banff & Lake Louise Tourism has the destination planning.

Whistler Blackcomb, British Columbia

The big news at Whistler Blackcomb is a new Showcase Chair, a quad that replaces the Showcase T-Bar on Blackcomb Mountain and improves access to Horstman Glacier and Blackcomb Glacier terrain. Opening day is targeted for November 20, weather permitting.

In the village, the Wildflower Grill at Fairmont Chateau Whistler is slated to open in December, according to Tourism Whistler.

Saint Roch, Courchevel 1850, France

Saint Roch, a new alpine retreat from French hotel group Maisons Pariente, is set to open on December 18 with 37 rooms and suites. It sits on the Bellecôte piste with direct access to Les 3 Vallées, and interiors are by Studio Friedmann & Versace. The spa has an indoor pool and Tata Harper treatments, and the concierge arranges dog-sledding, snowmobiling and mountain dinners.

The resort itself has news. Courchevel marks its 80th anniversary with a launch evening on December 4, and Les 3 Vallées is adding 52 new cabins on the La Tania gondola and Fera Lumia, a lit toboggan run down from Courchevel 1850. The ski area opens December 5.

The First Cortina, Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy

The First Cortina, by The Pavilions opens on December 4 on Corso Italia with 76 keys. Zuma Cortina is the signature restaurant, and the pasticceria Velo gets its second outpost. The 1,000-square-metre REVĪVŌ Spa brings the group’s Bali wellness model to the Dolomites. Find the wider destination at Cortina Dolomiti.

The Ski Lodge, Verbier, Switzerland

The Ski Lodge opens in December in the centre of Verbier, about 100 metres from Place Centrale. The 36 rooms and suites have no televisions, and some have a bunk nook above the king bed. Interiors are by London designer Sophie Kogevinas, inspired by the Valais region’s historic mayens.

The spa is included with every stay and has an indoor pool, cold plunge, Japanese onsen jacuzzi, sauna and hammam. The Listening Room bar runs from early evening until late, and The Peak serves a New York brasserie-style menu under chef Mario Paiva.

Niseko Village, Hokkaido, Japan

At Niseko Village, the first section of the new Mori-no Gondola is due to open in December, replacing the Mori-no Chair that has run since the early 1980s. The 86-cabin gondola includes four VIP cabins with tables for light dining and two glass-floor cabins. The second section follows in December 2027. Elsewhere in the Niseko United network, the Ace #3 lift at Grand Hirafu is being upgraded to a four-person chairlift this season.

The village is also home to Higashiyama Niseko Village, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve with 50 rooms and suites and an onsen, and the Hilton Niseko Village. Start planning with Niseko Tourism and Japan National Tourism Organization.

Most of the Alpine openings are dated for the first weeks of the season, so confirm opening dates with each property as December approaches.
