Want to write for us? OFFSHORE accepts pitches on an ongoing basis. We’re always interested in compelling narratives that spotlight trending destinations, resourceful mini city guides, and timely trend pieces. Before pitching, please familiarize yourself with our publication, and review some of our more recent issues to ensure your story idea has not recently been covered. Please note that due to a high volume of emails, pitches that do not adhere to our pitching guidelines will not be responded to.

Please pitch only one idea at a time. While we try to respond to all pitches in a timely manner, if you have not heard from us in two weeks, feel free to pitch your idea to other outlets.
OFFSHORE Travel Magazine is a luxury consumer publication geared towards some of Canada’s most affluent travellers. Our stories seek to inspire, engage and ignite a sense of wanderlust for our readers.
What to pitch
- First-person narratives (roughly 500-700 words) with a strong sense of place that can shine a new light, or perspective on a specific place. Your feature should address the following:
- Angle: what’s the underlying story? While the destination is the star, what’s your purpose for writing this piece? For example, a story about your personal trip to Lyon, France, won’t get noticed, but, a destination narrative about travelling to Lyon to meet with a master chocolatier to learn the secret to making the city’s famous tarte aux pralines, certainly will!
- Why you, and why now: when you pitch, outline why you should be the one to tell this story, and why it should matter to our audience for this particular issue.
- Plot: Again, we’re not looking for a play-by-play of your itinerary. Your piece should tell a story, much like the narrative of a good book.
- Trend pieces: these are shorter features (300 words) that highlight key trends in the luxury travel space.
- Mini city guides: these features offer an overview of some of the best things to do, see, and eat, as well as spotlight the best hotels to stay at, while providing key information to prospective travellers (how to get there, how to best get around, etc.). Please note, these pitches should only be sent if you’ve recently visited the area, and/or have fair knowledge of the destination.
What NOT to pitch
- Stories with an expiry date, meaning, topics that revolve around a specific time or date, and are not evergreen.
- Generic destination descriptions, or a recap of a personal trip itinerary, with no specific story angle or outcome.
- Hotel, cruise, airline, or tour operator reviews.
- Stories about trips that have not yet taken place.
- Stories that have been published elsewhere.
- Stories that do not take OFFSHORE’s audience into account, and/or don’t align with the publication’s writing tone/style.
